Not making something that will be helpful to children with SEND, simply because nobody has made it before, is no reason not to make it.

The uniqueness of BCE is knowing what young people who struggle to attend school will really benefit from most. And then we make it.
We know what these young people will benefit from most because we’ve seen them being provided with what they do not need, at great cost, for a very long time. Simply because ‘That’s the offer’. It’s not what I’d consider an offer at all – more the only option.
Time, resource, effort, funds and opportunities are not best used this way.
Not making something that will be helpful simply because nobody has made it before is no reason not to make it. And this is where BCE began…
Research and best practice have consolidated the fact that at Beyond Creative Education, we know what young people with SEND, EBSNA, communication barriers and health issues need in order to engage, learn and thrive.
After much research, observation, discussion, fact collection and professional learning, I can say that what we do here didn’t exist until now, because we were told:
it couldn’t be done;
it wasn’t financially viable;
staffing costs would be too high;
it wouldn’t provide places for the children who act out and are permanently excluded;
it wouldn’t be big enough for all the children who need it;
nobody else has done it already, so surely that’s the matter closed. Féte accompli.
What we have made here at BCE is a safe learning place to belong in. Where strong trusting relationships are the only factor worth measuring and assessing daily and, learners come not just to learn but to be a part of something they own and care for. It is productive, creative, aspirational, inspiring and valuable and as such it adds immeasurable value to their part in the world.

This is the rule we've been guided by since Day 1 at BCE and the life-practice we model for our learners every day.
Big things are being made here and we're so excited to be able to share them soon!
For now, our alternative education provision and life-learner coaching pathways continue to help young people with SEND, EBSNA, communication barriers or health issues, including school anxiety.
