Alternative Provision at BCE
Station Yard, Ashburton, TQ13 7EF
The foundations for our independent education provision are built upon giving young people assurance and confidence to know that they belong, so that they can begin to work towards learning, aspirations for the future and consistent attendance.
We are the ideal stepping stone for SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) learners who wish to build their solution focused attitudes and communication skills, through practical, creative, vocational and academic life-learning experiences, in the safety of our Ashburton studios, online, in the community or at the on-roll school.
BCE’s project based curriculum design works hand in hand with schools, parents, carers and/or the Local Authority to make a transition to the best next steps for every individual possible on a timescale designed specifically for every individual. Our work extends far beyond the studio walls.
The skills learnt and practised through creative, academic, vocational and life learning activities at BCE, equip learners with the tools and mindset to prepare for adulthood, integration and next steps in their unique journey.
Beyond Creative Education Limited is an Alternative Provision Quality Assured by Torbay Council and Approved by Pearson Edexcel.

Project Based Learning through Beyond Creative Education
We understand that every young person’s start point is unique, so we deliver an inclusive curriculum that will maximise their chances of future engagement and success. This means that an offer from BCE is designed with skill and care for each case. By listening carefully to learners, working in partnership with them, their families, schools and agencies, BCE ensures that opportunity and the ability to prepare for adulthood, return to education or transition towards a suitable alternative becomes possible.
Flexible programmes of project-based learning are scaffolded with a range of academic and therapeutic curriculum experiences, delivered typically over a twelve-week period:
Preparing for Adulthood
Aesthetic and Creative
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural
Human and Social
Physical
Linguistic
Mathematical, Scientific & Technological
Each BCE Pathway will also make possible social and emotional confidence and balance, by building a toolkit of personalised strategies so that learners can thrive in their own skin and then their learning environment.
Making a Referral
Anyone playing a key role in supporting a child or young person can make a referral to BCE (schools and officers must have consent from the child’s parent or carer). Referrals must come from an organisation, parent or carer who has the agreement of the fee payer in writing. Schools, parents, carers, specialists, and local authority officers can request and complete our Referral Form, then submit it as an email attachment to office@beyondcreativeeducation.org . Please use the candidate’s initials, date of birth and ‘Referral’ in the email subject box. We will endeavour to review referrals within 5 working days. Once a placement is agreed, we will ask for any additional information that will help us to plan a graduated response and bespoke package, then confirm the start date.
